Save the date for the fourth Cineforum Incendiario of 2024!
❤️‍🔥a collab between ARCI and Incendiarie.

🎥We will be screening the Italian documentary “Trieste è bella di notte” (Trieste shines at night), by Andrea Segre, @stefanocollizzolli and Matteo Calore for @zalabdocs and @vulcano.agency . The documentary will be followed by a debate.

The border between Italy and Slovenia is located on the hills above Trieste. If you walk through it at night, you can see the lights of the city shine on to the sea. It may seem like a dream come true.
Or the beginning of a nightmare.

The stories of migrants who have experienced refoulements and readmissions are interwoven with the videos recorded by the migrants themselves on their smartphones during their long journeys, as well as with the increasingly contradictory responses of the institutions.

Last Saturday, in the middle of the EP elections w

Last Saturday, in the middle of the EP elections weekend, we made the participants of our last apero of the season vote again! 🗳️

We asked them to express their ideas on what activities and topics should Arci Bruxelles focus on starting from September. The results were very interesting! 🧐

Many voters confirmed their enthusiasm for existing activities, like the themed Apéros, our Cineforum co-organised with @incendiarie.bxl and the Arci theater group led by @sofiarital .

Other voters were particularly inspired by this initiative (or by a spritz?🍹) and unleashed their creativity, proposing to watch every single match of Bologna in Champions League...good luck convincing the Direttivo 😉

A third group mentioned new activities, that will for sure inspire us all for the next season, including:
🗣️debates on the relationship between Italian and Belgian politics and communities
🥘 Food from all over the world for our Apéros
🌈 A Pride-themed Apéro
🎤 Karaoke nights and/or open mic
🃏 Card games and board games
🏓 Sports activities (for families)

Thank you all for your creativity! Make sure to bring your great ideas also to our General Assembly in September, and feel free to add in the comments.

Follow us for the last activities of the season in the coming days (bookclub, cineforum, event with all Italian associations in Brussels) and see you in the fall at the next Arci Apéro!

Our third and last meeting before the summer break is on Sunday 16 June at Kamilou Arts Loi.

ARCI (not so) Bookclub is a space for people who love reading to talk about books and discuss various topics through readings. 💥

The ARCI (not so) Bookclub is not your typical bookclub: we will not read all the same book and discuss it, but we organise thematic meetings and exchanges on readings we have done on that issue. The discussions will be broad and not very structured, which will leave space for creativity and unexpected turns.

Stay tuned, we will share some recommendations in the next days - share yours in the comments to inspire fellow bookclubbers!

ARCI Bxl adheres to @arcinazionale ’s voting campaign “Fermiamoli col voto”, that encourages all members to use their vote and choose peace, the environment, rights, democracy and social justice.

🗳️ In addition, ARCI Bxl invites all its members to a brainstorming exercise. We are looking for your inputs and feedback to plan next year’s activities. You will find some flipcharts and boxes around the room, don’t be shy and use your creativity to let us know what you would like for ARCI in 2025 💫

Parleremo con i rappresentanti di @pd_bruxelles, @alleanzaverdisinistraeuropa e di Stati Uniti d’Europa dei propri programmi, con un focus sulla loro visione per il futuro dell’UE, concentrandoci su politiche sociali, cittadinanza europea, difesa e sicurezza. 🇪🇺

It’s been twenty years since Genoa, 2001.
The dream of Genoa 2001 is not over, because the themes of those days - growing inequality, finance which concentrates resources in few hands and makes precarious or crushes the others, environment robbery, great migrations - are today’s issues, only more urgent. And the violence of Genoa 2001 is not over, because that violence has been told many times, and counter-told, celebrated or condemned, but never understood or resolved. Now is the right time to talk about it: to start from Genoa to go beyond Genoa, and to understand what Genoa means.

As per tradition, we celebrated Labour Day at the

As per tradition, we celebrated Labour Day at the Village Associatif organized by the @fgtbbruxelles, together with @incacgilnazionale and thousands of people. We talked, we danced, we drank and ate and we celebrated.

Most important, on this day we support the struggles of women and men who are fighting for decent work and against the insane logic of turbo-capitalism that makes more and more families precarious and impoverished.

The geopolitical tensions coming from the wars around us demand we take action in everything we do. So yesterday we joined also in solidarity with the population of Gaza, that beyond the humanitarian disaster it is facing, will need concerted international efforts to achieve fair socioeconomic conditions once the conflict will be over.

Avril antifasciste 2024, cette deuxième édition

Avril antifasciste 2024, cette deuxième édition de l’”Avril antifasciste international”, est un événement qui rassemble diverses organisations pour célébrer et renforcer les luttes antifascistes de manière intercommunautaire.

Plusieurs organisations mais aussi plusieurs histoires tissées par le fil rouge de la résistance:
➡️ celle qui déboute le 19 avril 1943 et qui donne naissance au soulèvement du ghetto de Varsovie contre les n4zis; 🇵🇱
➡️ celle du 25 avril 1945, fête nationale de libération du nazi fascisme en Italie, 🇮🇹
➡️ mais aussi celle du 25 avril 1974, la Révolution des Œillets contre la dictature salazariste au Portugal. 🇵🇹

Trois histoires différentes, mais qui parlent de la même histoire : celle de la libération des peuples des régimes fascistes et nazie en Europe.

💫 Ce programme est conçu pour garder vivante la mémoire du passé, discuter des formes actuelles du fascisme et explorer comment les combattre. ✊

During our last apéro, we collectively raised 1,000€ that will be entirely donated to the Remedial Education Center (REC) as part of @arcinazionale ‘s campaign. We are grateful to all participants who joined us in this effort, and to @zaataric and @intalglobalizebelgique for their contributions during the evening. 🇵🇸 🍉

➡️REC is a Palestinian civil society organisation that worked for the rights of children and the adults around them (teachers, family members), dealing especially with post-war trauma, kids with disabilities and in a difficult economic situation. With the ongoing tragedy in Gaza, REC has suffered many losses, but REC workers are still able to connect with many of the families of the children attending the Association’s facilities.
➡️ REC has deployed its network of operators, activists and volunteers working to provide relief and support to Gaza families, particularly those with children, and to regain a bit of hope in the midst of the terrible atrocities they are experiencing.
🤲🏼 We are proud to be able to support them.

April’s Apéro will focus on solidarity to Pales

April’s Apéro will focus on solidarity to Palestine. 🇵🇸

ARCI Bxl adheres to national ARCI’s campaign that encourages everyone to look at the situation “Con altri occhi”, meaning with a different perspective which is about building bridges and generating intertwining of visions, stories, experiences.

We will share some testimonies on the state of play in Gaza, and the Palestinian DJ @zaataric will share his music. If you know any Palestinian artist who would like to join the event and share their art, let us now!

Most importantly, this Apéro will be about concrete solidarity. All the revenues from the food and drinks will be donated to the Arci fundraising for Gaza.

Arci nel 2024 dedica la Giornata internazionale dei diritti delle donne a tutte quelle donne che in tutto il mondo lottano tutti i giorni per i diritti di tuttɜ, con lo slogan “Le città sono di tuttɜ”.

Vogliamo rivendicare il diritto a vivere tutti gli spazi con i propri corpi non maschili: le donne, le ragazze, le soggettività non binarie vogliono finalmente vivere la città, i territori più marginali, la casa, di giorno e di notte, senza paura.

Riteniamo urgente immaginare lo spazio come un’infrastruttura per il benessere di tuttɜ, ribaltando il paradigma degli spazi, pensati per la produzione, per mettere al centro la vita quotidiana e la cura, quale antidoto alla società del profitto, all’impoverimento delle relazioni, alla distruzione del pianeta e anche alla crescita delle disuguaglianze.

Ripensare le molteplici dimensioni dell’abitare – interconnesse e strettamente legate all’aumento delle disuguaglianze, in termini di accesso al reddito, al welfare, all’istruzione, alla sanità, alle crisi sociale e ambientale – implica ripensare la qualità della vita tanto negli spazi urbanizzati quanto nelle aree interne e marginali, e dunque immaginare la società che vorremmo. E lottare per costruirla.

Last Sunday we met in the cozy atmosphere of @librebook.eu for the first appointment of our atypical bookclub. With a bunch of lovely book warms we’ve exchanged around the idea of dystopian worlds in literature: what does make them so fascinating? How much do they talk about our own reality? What is their political value? In doing so, we shared suggestions on titles and authors of dystopian novels and we extended our book wishlist further..l

“The Squad” takes us into the everyday life of

“The Squad” takes us into the everyday life of Olympique Lyonnais, the greatest team in the history of women’s football. They have won everything, including eight Champions Leagues, five of them in a row, and yet they still have to fight to be treated with respect and play in proper conditions.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with @lescourtoises , a female football team of Brussels. It will be a moment to discuss the place of womxn in a still very male-dominated sport, from the Belgian amateur league BBFL to the highest level.

FR: ‘Les Joueuses #paslàpourdanser’ (Stéphanie Gillard, 2020) nous invite à découvrir le quotidien de l’Olympique Lyonnais – la plus grande équipe de l’histoire du football féminin. Elles ont tout gagné, notamment huit Ligues des Champions, donc cinq d’affilée ; pourtant elles doivent encore se battre pour être traitées avec respect et bénéficier d’infrastructures correctes.

La projection sera suivie d’un échange avec Les Courtoises, l’occasion d’évoquer la place des femmes* dans un sport encore très masculin, de la ligue amateur belge BBFL jusqu’au plus haut niveau.

🎥We will screen the Italian documentary “Speck: un destino cambiato”. The documentary will be followed by a debate with the online presence of the Director @philobatheia .

Speck shares the experience inside an intensive pig farm through the eyes of a hidden camera. The young man who wears it is conducting an undercover investigation, but the encounter with the animals will lead him to an unexpected choice.
